James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2007

Five star winery rating retained for 4th year running.

2004 Bel Sel Chardonnay; Rating 94 points

Bright yellow-green; complex aromas, flavours and textures; white peach, nectarine and hazelnut with perfectly integrated oak; glides across the tongue.

2004 Curlewis Chardonnay; Rating 95 points

If anything, even more complex than Bel Sel, and certainly has more intensity and weight, even though the alcohol is slightly lower. French oak absorbed and acidity gives great length.

2003 Curlewis Reserve Pinot Noir; Rating 94 points

Slightly brighter colour than the Bel Sel; distinctly more plum and cherry fruit, though still with nice spicy/foresty complexity; elegant, well balanced and has a lovely finish.

2004 Bel Sel Pinot Noir; Rating 91 points

Light colour showing obvious development; the wine follows on with savoury/foresty aromas and flavours; does have length.
